The electrical work is done and this week I’ll be ordering my kiln. I hope Clay King, our local clay supply shop will have the one I want in stock, if not it’ll be a 4-6 week wait (at best)!
In the meantime I thought I’d share a larger piece I’ve been working on. It’s a multi-piece work that will be appropriately 36” wide and 40” in height and will have 50+ individual pieces both large and small. It is a multi-dimensional wall sculpture of a thunderbird.
As you can see in the photos, it’s gone from rough sketch to scaled design templates to the finished greenware clay work now waiting to be bisced.
Here’s the progression of the feathers.
After the bisc firing each piece will be glazed and then raku fired, after which it’ll all be assembled. I intend to produce a series of similar pieces of varying sizes and of course each with unique design features and glaze palettes.
I’ll keep you posted as it continues on it’s journey.
